Looking in the direction of Mdina circa 1882, work on Attard viaduct is underway with labourers cladding the rough embankment with dressed stone. Overseeing engineers, probably British, inspect progress, recognisable in their white pith helmets. Work continues in the direction of Valletta with iron formwork dictating the angle required for the finished smooth stonework.
Today the Corinthia Palace Hotel occupies the space to the right here, but the viaduct survives. Not the original photo, but a good copy I discovered amongst some papers and worth sharing here.
