The photographer in the above image here must be stood almost outside the station building at Floriana looking back at the Wignacourt water tower, The two tall stone blocks in the view are the ventilation shafts for the station, that on the left being above the stairs down to the platform and the one on the right above the railway tunnel itself. The tracks in the ground must have been worn by passengers making their way to the ticket office. Frustratingly, every photograph of the water tower, Kappella, or Methodist church, misses the station building in the background, it often being obscured by the tall stone vent walls in front. It must have been just as difficult for prospective passengers to locate it.
