We’re incredibly grateful to Michael Cassar, one of the authors of The Malta Railway, for his kind permission to host a pdf copy of his book on maltarailway.net. The book, the last edition of which was published in 1992, is essential reading for anyone interested in the history of the line, and was both a key resource and the original inspiration behind my enthusiasm for the railway.
Many hours were keenly spent reading and re-reading this book during the 1980s when it was first published. Using it to trace the line and visit the remains became an obsession, and I only regret that I no longer have many of the photos I took back then.
With the blessing of Mr Cassar, we’re proud to be able to share is here for current and future enthusiasts. With thanks too to Timmy Zammit who diligently scanned it and whose copy is shared here.
